Day 12 of 30 Freebies: Today’s freebie: Day Zero Philosophy Checklist – Link
Dear Friend, I like to start my notes to you as if we’re already in the middle of a conversation. I pretend that we’re the oldest and dearest friends, as opposed to what we actually are, people who don’t know each other’s names and met in a chat room where we both claimed we’d never been before. What will NY152 say today I wonder. I turn on my computer, I wait impatiently as it connects. I go online and my breath catches in my chest until I hear three little words: You’ve got mail. I hear nothing, not even a sound on the streets of New York, just the beat of my own heart. I have mail. From you.
Haha… I just couldn’t help myself.
I watched You’ve Got Mail the other day with the kids around. It was so much fun to see their interest in something that I fell in love with as a teenager.
But that isn’t what we are here today for, although, I am writing to you as if we are dear friends. I want to bring you some thoughts on this “day zero” philosophy I have. I have a lot going on behind the scenes at Jo & Coaching. I am writing a book, and I am creating 5 courses. I also have a family, a husband, three employees, a real job that pays the bills, and some fingernail polish on my nails that hasn’t been changed in four weeks. Right now, I am wishing that I was sitting in a cabin in the woods or a lighthouse on the edge of the ocean.
So two of these courses are for real estate agents: one for beginners, and one for more established real estate agents. In the beginners course, I plan to set them up on Day 0. Day 0 is going to the foundation the foundation the rest of the business is built upon. Without dragging this post any longer, here is my, Day Zero Philosophy written just for you.
The Day Zero Philosophy
This is the foundational framework for all new business owners, entrepreneurs, and anyone who wants to start over and do things the right way. The first thing I am going to dive in is why you should follow the Day Zero Philosophy.
Why you should follow the Day Zero Philosophy
Modern technology has expanded business opportunities far beyond the confines of brick-and-mortar establishments. With billions of users surfing the internet daily, the online sphere offers an unparalleled opportunity to expand reach, build authority, and cultivate relationships with a broad audience. But to harness this opportunity to its fullest, it’s essential to have a solid foundation. That’s where the Day Zero Philosophy comes into play.
Here’s why:
- Ownership Over Your Digital Real Estate:
Platforms come and go, algorithms change, and what might be trending today might be obsolete tomorrow. By having your website and blog, you have control over your content, its presentation, and how it interacts with your audience. Unlike social media platforms, where rules can change overnight, your website remains your very own corner of the internet. - Building Authority:
Consistent blogging can position you as an expert in your field. Each post you craft serves as a testament to your knowledge, passion, and commitment to your industry. This credibility can translate into trust, making your audience more likely to choose you over competitors. - Organic Search Visibility:
Search engines love fresh, relevant content. Blogging is one of the most effective ways to produce regular content and thereby enhance your website’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization). When done right, blogging can increase the likelihood of your website showing up on the first page of Google organically – without the need for paid advertising. - Building Relationships:
A blog is not just a platform to share information but also a space to connect with your audience. Comments, shares, and feedback provide direct insights into what your customers want, think, and feel about your business. It’s a two-way conversation that strengthens the bond between brand and consumer. - Evergreen Content:
Well-researched and crafted blog posts can serve as evergreen content, driving traffic and providing value for years to come. Unlike a fleeting social media post, a comprehensive blog article can keep attracting readers and potential customers long after it has been published. - Centralized Hub for Content:
Consider your website’s blog as the heart of your online presence. From here, you can branch out and share snippets, quotes, or links on your social media, email newsletters, or even webinars. By centralizing your content, you ensure that everything points back to your core message and brand identity. - Diversifying Traffic Sources:
Relying solely on one platform for traffic or audience engagement is risky. By incorporating blogging into your strategy, you diversify your traffic sources. This provides stability and decreases your vulnerability to sudden changes on a single platform.
The Day Zero Philosophy isn’t just about having a website or a blog; it’s about laying down a strong foundation upon which you can build a sustainable, resilient, and thriving online presence. Embrace the philosophy, become a blogger, and ensure that every piece of content you produce has a home that truly belongs to you.
So in a nutshell, The Day Zero Philosophy is here to set you up for day one. So how do you do this?
You will need a website, you will need to decide if you want any type of e-commerce platform, you will need to create all of your social media platforms, you will need a Google Business Profile page, you will need to sign up for a content syndication platform, a newsletter platform, an SEO plugin, you will need to define your content strategy, you will need to build a team or have a plan in place, and you will need to get support.
I have created an amazing freebie for you. This is my most favorite freebie yet. It is the Day Zero Checklist. You can download it here…

This checklist answers the questions of what “would you do if you had to start over in your business today?” And keep in mind, this foundation is the exact same framework I have set up for my business Jo & Co. Before creating online content and establishing an online presence, I made $297,000. That was back in 2019. In 2020 I started making content, and 2022 was my best year yet. I grossed $907,000 in commissions with almost all of it coming directly from my online presence. Think lead generation vs brand awareness. Lead generation is what I am achieving short term, and long term I am achieving brand awareness.
