I can pinpoint every conversation that changed the trajectory of my career. The first one was with Renee Morton. She is a lender in Texas, and she introduced me to Yelp. I don’t remember the steps I followed after that, but I know I created a Yelp profile and started to get reviews.
I have since had this love-hate relationship with Yelp.com. It is a very flawed lead-generating resource, but it was a great starting place for me. In my last year before growing outside of Yelp, I was able to gross $300k with about 80% (to 90%) coming directly from Yelp. That was in 2019, but I also generated about $200k in 2018 with 80 (to 90%) coming directly from Yelp. And this wasn’t because of ads. Between an educated guess and some feedback from clients when I asked them how they found me, they found me from Google through Yelp.
I don’t really tell you this story to set the impression that I think you should have a huge Yelp presence, but I tell you this story to foreshadow how important Google would become to me, and how this was just the first stepping stone to where I am not.

I got so much real estate experience through Yelp, and I will forever be grateful. Now a days, I get only 5-10% of my leads through Yelp, with the majority coming from my blog and my YouTube channel.
