How you can plan and create your perfect day.

My life is pretty unique. Because I have spent over five years creating content regularly, I have a lot of free time, due to the fact that all of my clients seek me out, and I am not chasing them. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the processes I have developed and the people I have employed. Couple that with the fact that 4 years ago I was able to retire my husband (side note: we have six kids and four are still within the home), my schedule and your schedule might not have a lot of similarities, but I wanted to share it with you as maybe some inspiration, if you too, want to have a flexible schedule like myself. Today I bring you a glimpse into my schedule, and hope you can too create a perfect day.

All too many times I have journaled my “perfect day”. In the past, I have struggled to stick to it, but that is because I was also saying “yes” to the wrong things, taking unnecessary appointments, and participating in coaching calls that weren’t meant for me, my lifestyle, and my goals, and letting the wrong people into my life. About four months ago, I was able to let go of everything and everyone toxic in my life, and it has been a game changer.

So with school back in session, I decided to once again sit down, and write out the most realistic perfect day. You see, I love to stay up late. I am talking 11 pm, midnight, or sometimes even 1 o’clock in the morning. While this isn’t sustainable long-term, or sustainable for back to school, it is deeply rooted within me that I work well on my business when the stars are out, and the kids are fast asleep.

For years, I used to wake up before everyone else, even as early as 4:50 AM, and I was constantly running myself thin and burning out left and right. Well the schedule you are about to see, if realistic, has “my cake and eat it too” schedule. It is my Sunday-Thursday schedule, and I tend to let a little more loose on Friday evenings, Saturday, and Sunday. In this schedule, I still wanted to make sure I could stay up kind of late, and still fit in self-care, so here it is…

7 AM, Selfcare
Water, Meditate, Pray/Devotional, Stretch

7:30 AM, Kids ready.
Make sure they are getting ready. Feed kids breakfast. Pack lunches.

7:45 AM, Walk the kids to school.

8:00 AM, Lift weights.
Grab water, go upstairs to the gym, and lift weights with hubby. Take a shower and get dressed.

9:00 AM, Emails.

Work, etc.

11 AM, Lunch.

Work, etc.

3:15 PM, Walk to get the kids from school.

Be present. Hang with the kids. Hang in the kitchen while hubby cooks.
4:30 PM, Take vitamins and supplements.

5:00 PM, Eat dinner.

5:30 PM, Laundry.
My goal is to do a load of laundry while the kids do the dishes. But Edward’s goal is to make sure there isn’t any laundry for me to do. Lol.

6:00 PM, Outside with family.

7:30 PM, Tuck the kids in.

8:00 PM, Flex time.
Work, hang out with Edward, clean a room in the house (I have a schedule.), Etc.

10:30 PM, Bedroom
Brush teeth, Stretch, Meditate, Pray

11:00 PM, Sleep

Time blocks on my calendar:
I make sure I can drop off and pick up the kids from school. I make sure I can eat dinner with the family. I do have a huge part of Saturday blocked off. Otherwise, I leave my calendar open for appointments.

How you can create a perfect day…

Before creating your perfect day, you need to list your priorities. For me, this is walking my kids to school, picking them up from school, eating dinner with my family at 5 PM each evening, blocking off a huge chunk of Saturday for family time, playing pickleball with my neighbors during a Monday night open play, and sleeping in most Saturday and Sunday morning. For you, it might look a little different.

You also need to take into consideration your physical and mental health priorities. For me, this is stretching, meditation, praying, working out, fasting at least 16 hours each day, taking my vitamins 30 minutes before my last meal, getting 8 hours of sleep, and drinking lots of water. Remember you are creating your perfect day, and no one expects you to be perfect every day, but you need to be realistic. My biggest mistakes in the past were trying to please everyone, and not prioritizing my sleep or fitness goals.

With lists in hand, you are now ready to create your perfect day in the form of a schedule. You want to start on the outside and work yourself in. Answer these questions and put them into your perfect day graphic first, how many hours of sleep am I going to get, what time do I want to eat, either, and what time do I want to wake up or what time do I want to go to sleep? Now add in your priorities and what one might call obligations, and it is okay to have different plans for different days. My above schedule was built for school nights, and weekend evenings/mornings look a lot different. That final step might be a little bit of an eye-opening for you, but you got this! Did you have to make some sacrifices?

Embracing Change with Self-Compassion and Grace

Life is a journey filled with diverse seasons—some of growth, others of challenge, and moments of tranquility. Navigating through these seasons is an art that demands patience, resilience, and above all, self-compassion. In this blog post, we delve into the beauty of recognizing the various phases of life and the importance of extending grace to ourselves as we move through them.

Embracing the Ever-Changing Seasons

Just as nature experiences cycles of blooming and withering, our lives undergo seasons of change. Some seasons bring joy, progress, and achievement, while others might be marked by uncertainty, setbacks, or introspection. Recognizing that life’s seasons are transient and essential for growth is the first step towards embracing them fully.

The Power of Self-Compassion

Amidst life’s unpredictable twists and turns, practicing self-compassion becomes a sanctuary. Treating ourselves with the same kindness we’d offer a dear friend is a transformative mindset shift. Instead of harsh self-criticism during challenging seasons, we acknowledge our struggles with empathy, understanding that they are an inherent part of our human experience.

Extending Grace to Ourselves

Giving ourselves grace means letting go of unrealistic expectations and embracing imperfection. During seasons of struggle, it’s crucial to remind ourselves that setbacks do not define our worth. Rather than dwelling on perceived failures, we focus on the lessons and growth these experiences offer.

Adapting and Evolving

Just as seasons transition seamlessly, so too do the phases of our lives. Embracing change, even when it feels uncomfortable, enables us to evolve and learn. Each season contributes to the tapestry of our lives, adding depth, wisdom, and resilience.

Strategies for Cultivating Self-Compassion

  • Mindfulness: Practice being present in each season, acknowledging your emotions without judgment.
  • Self-Care:** Prioritize self-care routines that nurture your well-being and provide moments of solace.
  • Gratitude: Cultivate gratitude for the lessons, experiences, and growth each season brings.
  • Positive Affirmations: Replace self-criticism with positive affirmations that reinforce your inherent value and potential.
  • Connection: Seek support from friends, family, or professional networks during challenging seasons.

Embracing the Unfolding Journey

As you reflect on the tapestry of your life, remember that each season contributes to your unique story. Embrace the chapters that have shaped you and those that are yet to unfold. Recognize that giving yourself grace is not a sign of weakness, but a testament to your strength and capacity for growth.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3

Life’s seasons are a testament to our resilience and capacity to adapt. By extending grace and practicing self-compassion, we navigate these seasons with greater ease, nurturing our well-being along the way. As you journey through the highs and lows, remember that you are not alone. Embrace the ebb and flow of life, for it is in these transitions that we find the true essence of our being and the beauty of our evolving selves.

Hugs, Jo.
