Hi new friend. I have been looking to grow my team lately, so I decided to join some Facebook groups to seek out real estate agents who wanted to be buyer’s agents under the Jo & Co. brand. While browsing my favorite Facebook mastermind, I noticed one very common topic, and it is leads. So I wanted to provide some training on how we acquire leads for free at Jo & Co.
I also did another version of this blog post and video titled, How to Generate Your Own Leads as a REALTOR®, but with almost 100,000 real estate agents leaving the industry this year I wanted to make sure I also told you how to generate free leads just in case you are a newer agent, and your broker doesn’t offering training.
There are a lot of ways to generate leads, but my favorite way to attract clients is through content. YouTube videos are my favorite type of content, and that is how I have generated over $2M in GCI in the last few years.
How to YouTube: If you are new to YouTube there are lots of different resources for learning YouTube, but at the end of the day, I think you should keep it basic and keep it “you”, yet professional, and make sure you start with a definition of your brand and ideal client. You also want to decide what “content buckets” you will fill each week or month. I create vlogs (realtor or mom), real estate videos (neighborhood tours and home tours), talking head videos where I share my local knowledge (think best neighborhoods and top 10 lists), and personal videos called “for my besties”. I have done a lot of series in the past including a “Q&A” Series, a “Seller Series”, and “Market Updates”.

Other places to create content that can lead to new clients include Instagram, although what I love most about YouTube is that it is “evergreen” content that can be discovered through YouTube search, YouTube suggestions, and Google search. But the main reason why I create reels for Instagram is that the content can be uploaded on YouTube as a short, and then it now becomes evergreen (searchable and discoverable for years to come).
In the video below, I also featured Pinterest as one of my favorite ways to generate leads. You can share all of your content on Pinterest as a graphic. If you are curious about what this looks like, you can see how we have incorporated Pinterest into our content strategy here. In the last 30 days, we have really cut back on how many videos we have been posting, but over the summer we were seeing 200k – 300k views a month. Right now we seeing about 100k views and impressions per month. | Follow Jo & Coaching on Pinterest.
If you are looking for an easy button, the easiest way to generate leads without creating content is by having a listing media presence. The quickest platform is going to be Yelp.com, but the best one for a long-term strategy is Google Business Profile. It is important to note, that to have genuine reviews on Yelp, you are not allowed to solicit them, so be sure not to send your link to a client, and the only reviews that will stick are from active users, so getting reviews on Yelp can be tricky. You will not have this problem on Google Business Profile.
There are many ways to generate leads, but there are going to be one or two strategies that will work better for you. Don’t forget to watch the full episode below to learn the bonus strategies I suggest.
