My goals when I became a realtor.

All I want to do right now is finish one of the seven books sitting on my desk, but you are more important, so don’t worry—it is just you and me.

When I thought about getting my real estate license, I had one goal: getting divorced.

Fast-forward to when I obtained my real estate license. I was pregnant, in a new relationship, and taking care of 5 children in a brand-new blended household while my significant other traveled for work. From the outside looking in, we might have appeared to be a hot mess that rushed into commitment, but when you know, you know, right?

So, my goal changed.

I wanted to make enough money so that my “husband” could quit his job, and we could conquer life together.

I thought if I could make $200,000, we would have enough money to make this happen. Of course, it took $300,000 and three years of commitment.

I had retired my husband.

So how did I do it?

How I did it isn’t how I do things now. I focused solely on organic leads through “listing media.” Listing media examples are Yelp.com, Google Business Profile, and industry-related websites. They are our digital yellow pages spruced up a bit with reviews, which are more powerful than the phone book because they lead to trust.

Trust.

Trust became the cornerstone of my approach to real estate. In an industry where relationships often determine success more than transactions do, I learned that earning and maintaining the trust of my clients wasn’t just important—it was everything. Here’s how I built that trust and why it mattered so much.

Understanding Needs: The first step in building trust was genuinely understanding my clients’ needs. This meant listening more than talking, asking the right questions, and demonstrating empathy for their situation. Whether it was a family looking for their forever home or someone navigating the complexities of selling their property, understanding their emotional and practical needs helped me serve them better.

Transparency: I made it a point to be transparent in all my dealings. This meant clear communication about buying and selling, honest advice about property values, and straightforward answers to my client’s questions. Surprises are rarely welcome in real estate, so I ensured my clients knew what to expect at every turn.

Reliability: I also built trust by being reliable and consistent in my follow-through. Whether it was returning calls promptly, keeping appointments, or staying on top of paperwork. This showed that I was dependable and helped to build confidence in my abilities.

Expertise: Demonstrating expertise in the real estate market was and is crucial. By sharing my knowledge of market trends, legal requirements, and financial advice, I helped clients feel more secure in their decisions. This expertise and willingness to learn and adapt positioned me as a trusted advisor rather than a transaction facilitator.

Building Community: Finally, trust wasn’t just about individual client relationships. It was also about building a sense of community. By engaging in community events, contributing to local causes, and being an active part of my area, I showed that my commitment was to individual success and the community’s well-being.

Focusing on trust has had profound results. It helped me achieve my initial financial goals, allowed my husband to join me in this journey, and laid the foundation for a sustainable business model. And once I retired from my husband, I had new eyes on new sights.

My new goal: To dominate Google.

You do this by providing value and not asking for anything in return. I know you are seeing a lot of recurring themes in my writing, but they are really at the foundation of who I am. What does it take to dominate Google, you ask? Well, let’s break it down.

  1. Patience. A lot of patience.
  2. I started making content on every platform. I started with one, and once I felt comfortable there, I moved to another.
  3. I did not start with a plan, but you should.
  4. Once overwhelmed by the influx of clients, I hired a team.
  5. I was not good at hiring.
  6. Lots of hires and fires. And even one orchestrated coup.
  7. A lot of embarrassing mistakes. (I was doing something I had never done before without a proven system to reference.)
  8. And then, finally, one day, I looked up, and I had made it.

The #1 way you can dominate Google is by creating hyper-local and long-tail keyword-driven content.

What exactly do you do with your content?

  1. You write it well with knowledge, heart, and experience, with one goal in mind while not forgetting a passive call to action. This applies to written content. Or you document it. This can apply to visual content.
  2. Then, you syndicate your content, which is my method of cross-publishing. You want to meet your dream clients where they are.

You continue to post valuable content, and over time, the effects compound. The type of content you have created is almost timeless and is referred to as evergreen content. For information that can change over time, you will create a series, and you will update the series yearly.

You think of Google as your best friend. You do not manipulate Google and you do not mistreat Google. You are kind to Google, and you put Google first by putting your client first.

(I am going mad right now. I just had a book in my hands. I haven’t left my office, and it is just gone. Lol.)

What do you need next to be success?

You need systems! I could finally breathe once I introduced a complete system (a CRM, automation, a workflow plan, and the right people) that worked synergically.

So what’s next? I want to show you exactly what I have done. Sign up for the waitlist here.
