This is the second installment in my new mini-series where I share with you the three platforms and strategies that changed my life. I started with, How YouTube changed my life as a REALTOR®, and today I am discussing how Pinterest has changed my life, all through the lens of being a REALTOR®, broker, and boutique brokerage owner.
These blog posts stem from the three-video series, that you can find over on my YouTube channel. I am really excited to share with you the framework that has had the greatest influence on my business, Jo & Co. Hi, y’all, my name is Jo, and I want to share with you everything I have learned along the way to building a 7-figure-business so that you can do it too. Unlike everyone out there who tells you they are going to teach you their secrets, yet they hold most of them back, I am actually telling you everything. I want to be the mentor that I wish I had, and I am going to do this for you because I really want to help you.
How Pinterest changed my life.
It is really intelligent to create content, but if the right person or the right people aren’t seeing your content, it might as well not exist. It’s like the old saying, “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” Similarly, if content is created and not effectively shared or seen by your dream client, it does not achieve its purpose. So the creation of content should be coupled with a strategic approach to distribution to ensure it reaches who you actually created it for.
I think there are lots of ways to add fuel to the fire when it comes to visibility, discoverability, and reach. The basic concept of “sharing the link” on other platforms is the easiest. You can also advertise or “boost” the piece of content if it is sitting on a social media platform. But my favorite way of getting content in front of the right person is to create it as a blog post so that in its evergreen nature, it has the possibility to show up in search results on the first page of Google, also by being discovered by users through Pinterest.
Both of these platforms, Google and Pinterest, are what I call search media. Online content can be broken down into three categories. Listing media (Google Business Profile, Yelp, etc.), social media (Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, etc.), and search media (YouTube, Pinterest, Google, etc.). Listing media is like the yellow pages of the Internet, social media is like the gathering spaces, clubs, and communities we have built on the Internet, while search media is a little bit harder to explain, but the most powerful. Maybe it is like going to the wisest person you know seeking advice, or turning to the back of a non-fiction book to the index. Search media is where you go to get your questions answered, and it is one way to build trust.
Pinterest for me personally, has been one of the accelerates of the fire when it comes to my online content being discovered and digested.
When looking at the Jo & Co. Pinterest analytics, this is what I discovered. In April of this year, we received 69,060 impressions on our pins, 1,630 engagements, and 405 outbound clicks. In May, we received 145,250 impressions, 2,190 engagements, and 366 outbound clicks. In June, we received 182,810 impressions, 2,550 engagements, and 393 outbound clicks. In July, we received 195,700 impressions, 2,460 engagements, and 486 outbound clicks. In July, we received 209,310 impressions, 2,560 engagements, and 412 outbound clicks. Obviously, the more content you post to Pinterest, the more potential your analytics can hold. During the summer I was posting/pinning very heavily.
What Pinterest has directly done for me as a REALTOR® and business owner:
- It has given me an additional platform to have a voice on.
- It has given me an additional platform to build community on.
- It has increased the traffic to my websites and Instagram.
- It has helped me create massive brand awareness.
- It has contributed to my life financially through new clients and closings.
What I love about Pinterest:
- That it is free to use.
- That it is easy to use.
- I never advertised my Jo & Co. content, but I love how easy it is to advertise. I think there is a lot of potential for those with a small budget who want other ways to reach their ideal client.
- I love that the more you put into it, the more you can get out of it.
Some of my favorite facts about Pinterest:
- Approximately 45% of Pinterest users in the United States boast an annual income exceeding $100,000, making it a ripe platform for social commerce.
- The platform’s annual growth rate stands at 7.5%, ranking it as the third fastest-growing social media platform, behind Snapchat and LinkedIn.
- Pinterest claims nearly 450 million monthly active users. Although this pales in comparison to Facebook’s nearly 3 billion, Pinterest has shown consistent growth.
- About 80% of Pinterest users report a positive emotional response to the platform. This likely contributes to its high ACSI rating.
- Of the platform’s weekly users, 85% have made a purchase based on pins they’ve seen, making Pinterest an effective sales channel.
- Women aged between 25-34 make up the largest segment of Pinterest’s user base, followed by those aged 18-24.
- Ads on Pinterest yield a 32% better Return On Ad Spend (ROAS) compared to other digital advertising channels.
- The platform functions essentially as a visual search engine, with 5 billion monthly searches, underscoring the importance of Pinterest SEO.
- In May 2022, Pinterest received almost 1 billion monthly visits, indicating frequent user engagement.
- Unlike most social media posts with short lifespans, Pinterest pins can remain relevant for six months to a year, offering excellent organic ROI.
- Users on Pinterest typically spend twice as much as on other social media platforms, making it an attractive option for high-ticket items.
