Bonus Section: Tools Every Blogger Should Have // Tips
- You need some sort of SEO plugin. Yoast SEO and OptinMonster are two really good ones I have used before. Whenever you are downloading plugins, make sure they have lots of downloads and a high review score.
- You can schedule out your blog posts. WordPress has a built-in option. You select the word “Immediately” next to Publish in your “Post” sidebar, and you would then pick the designed date/time. I recommend posting at least once a day, but more is better.
- My favorite blog platform is WordPress. Once you have a domain and a server, installing WordPress is free. There are so many free templates to choose from, so you don’t have to 100% start from scratch. I personally love the building platform Elementor. I honestly have a love-hate relationship with it, but it makes designing a lot easier. This year is my first time using Elementor.
- My favorite hosting service is Bluehost. There are so many pricing options. I personally have unlimited hosting but that is because I have 30+ domains. What I love most about Bluehost is their 24/7 customer service.
- Use beautiful imagery. It makes all the difference. You can get royalty-free images from Unsplash.com free of charge.
- Design and write with SEO in mind. I haven’t yet written a blog post about SEO, so I can’t link it, but stay tuned. But you should do some research on basic SEO blogging best practices.
- You should be embedding all YouTube videos into blog posts. Make sure each video you upload to YouTube has its own blog post.
- Syndicate your blog posts to Pinterest. I personally use Canva to make my Pinterest Pins. Pinterest is a great way to boost traffic. You can even upload videos to Pinterest, and point the pin to your blog or Instagram!
